II. ARTICLE ABOUT "THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY

IN TEACHING AND THE CLASSROOM" by Marc Prensky

The article consisted of using technology in classes instead of using old methods. Why is technology so important?

I found the technology in teaching process was helpful as it ensured students teaching themselves with teachers’ guidance. Apart from this, I know that there are more works pointing to the positive effects of technology in areas like basic reading skills and improved writing. Not all the information about using technology in classes that I read was new for me thanks to our lecturers but the example about giving laptop to students and taking them back from students when it seemed that they were not helpful for kids’ learning attracted to me. It was not because of kids yet it was related with the teachers who didn’t want to change the way they taught.

Therefore I concluded from the article that we should change our way to teach and introduce technology into our curriculums. We should try to explore how to begin to use computers and to identify whether there are any reasons for using computers in classes. Then we can start allowing students to learn with technology by themselves.
