III. ARTICLE ABOUT "BACKUP EDUCATION?
Too many teachers see education as
preparing kids for the past, not the future." by Marc Prensky
The article was related with whether teachers
should follow “the basics” or “best method.” I found that the most positive
aspect of this study was to provide the opportunity to compare the old pedagogy
that some teachers still supported with the new methods which needed to be
promoted.
Surely using the technology in classrooms
opened a new era of teaching. Now we have better education methods like videos,
blogs, social network etc… Then why don’t we use it in our classrooms? As in
the article, of course there were some teachers advocating old methods; yet
continuing on teaching with “the basics” would damage our students’ future.
Also I understand that the technology has been
improving fast and there will be no need to use any “backup” education in the
future. So why can’t those teachers accept the changes in methods?
As a result, making changes in teaching
strategies helps not only us but also our students. Besides I have drawn the
conclusion from this article that it is a role which I will be interested in
pursuing during my professional future.
