IV. ARTICLE ABOUT "DIGITAL NATIVES, DIGITAL IMMIGRANTS" by Marc Prensky
In the article specific things were shared.
Initially, the subjects were seen as amazing; digital natives and digital
immigrants.
It was no doubt the case that young people
were growing up with the computers and the internet while older people were
dealing with learning technology. That different interactions with different
things led to different brain structures was interesting for me. However the
teacher was placed in such a position that made him/her unable to change methods
yet he/she was forced to change in order to remain his job competently. I found
that he/she was in a relationship with the technology and his/her status was
presented as “immigrant”. Nevertheless he/she had to adapt his/her teaching
methods and change the methods in order to reach students who were shown as
“natives.” Then would it be a paradox?
Surely we needed to explore digital native
methodologies for teaching easily and enjoyable way although the process had
already begun. We had to remove old teaching methods to appeal students into
learning process. But I didn’t agree with general positioning in that an
immigrant digital couldn’t become a native digital.
